Jamaica Trade Board launches EXPORTJamaica for enhanced trade and business insights and embarks on a rebranding exercise

 

Kingston, Jamaica: The Trade Board Limited (Jamaica Trade Board), an entity under the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, launched EXPORTJamaica on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. EXPORTJamaica is a cutting-edge, global market intelligence and compliance platform that enables the identification of suitable markets and business opportunities worldwide.


Through EXPORTJamaica, the Jamaica Trade Board is actualizing its mission of providing relevant and current trade-related information. Offering global market insights and compliance guidance, this platform is poised to greatly benefit prospective and established exporters, particularly micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) that sometimes face challenges in accessing specialized market insights, compliance data, and support resources due to cost constraints.


Senator the Hon. Aubyn Hill, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, who delivered the keynote remarks at the launch, stated that“EXPORTJamaica will enable local MSMEs to identify and take advantage of business opportunities overseas that will contribute significantly to the growth of the Jamaican economy. This platform will amplify the knowledge and discovery of the best countries for Jamaican businesses to trade with by leveraging accurate and up-to-date market insights”.
Minister Hill encouraged MSMEs to "Make a strategic investment in your business and focus on the production of high-quality products that possess the inherent appeal to captivate international markets.
Trade Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Trade Board, Dr. (Maj.) Hugh Blake, further described EXPORTJamaica as “a digital tool that provides users with an opportunity to access current information on market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behaviour, enabling businesses to make stronger and more informed decisions”.


I have immense pride and enthusiasm as we witness the dawn of a new era in Jamaican trade the launch of EXPORTJamaica. This cutting-edge online platform is not just a new initiative, but a powerful instrument designed to empower Jamaican businesses”, Dr Blake emphasized.


The benefits of EXPORTJamaica are vast, inclusive of providing compliance requirements for various countries and access to tools such as selling price calculators and currency converters. Notably, EXPORTJamaica also provides access to a suite of supporting resources which includes a customs duties calculator which calculates duties accurately, landed cost calculator which provides the total cost of exporting and much more.


Manager of Systems Engineering & Programming at the Jamaica Trade Board, Mr. Jason Mills, stated that “EXPORTJamaica will simplify and enhance the experience of businesses seeking to discover global markets to export their goods”.
Simultaneously, the Jamaica Trade Board, has rebranded. The agency’s new logo signifies its transformation from a regulatory agency into a robust trade facilitator that has embraced the digital age. Dr. Blake stated, “the Jamaica Trade Board has not only embraced innovation but has rebranded itself to signify a renewed commitment to knowledge-sharing and enhancing trade services with Jamaican businesses, ultimately increasing export opportunities for our local enterprises”.
