Issuing Certificates of originÂ
The Trade Board Certification Unit is the designated Governmental Authority to certify products which comply with the rules of origin of a given preferential trade scheme.This requires analyzing products and verifying their working processes to ensure they conform the prescribed criteria of each trade scheme.The issuing of a certificate of origin permits the qualifying product to be granted duty concession, i.e.duty free or reduction of duty.Â
The Units certifies products under the following trade schemes:Â
- Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Single Market and Economy (CSME)
- Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI)
- Commonwealth Caribbean-Canada Free Trade Agreement (CARIBCAN)
- Generalized System of Preferences (GSP)
- CARICOM- Colombia Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement
- CARICOM– Dominican /Republic Free Trade Agreement
- CARICOM/ Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement
- CARICOM- Cuba Technical and Economic Cooperation Agreement
- CARICOM– Venezuela Trade and Investment Agreement
