Dear valued customers,
Please be advised that the application for motor vehicle dealership certification includes the submission of all requisite documentation along with a site inspection, as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Import Policy, 2014.
The turn-around time for certification is 4 weeks for all completed applications (applications that have met all the requirements for certification).
The dealership licence application and approval process includes the following steps:
- Application Submission
- Register for an account on the Jamaica Single Window for Trade (JSWIFT) platform (www.jswift.gov.jm).
- Log in with credentials provided to apply for certification via JSWIFT (two months in advance of the current expiry date for re-certification).
- Submit all necessary supporting documentation and pay the applicable fees:
- New Dealer Registration or Re-Registration J$103,500.00 (inclusive of GCT)
- Per Additional Lot J$28,750.00 (inclusive of GCT)
- Late Registration J$57,500.00 (inclusive of GCT)
- Application is received by the Jamaica Trade Board (The Trade Board Limited) and is assigned to an Inspection & Certification Officer for review.
- Review of Application
- Each application is examined to ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicle Import Policy, 2014, as it relates to requirements for dealership certification.
- Site Inspection
- Upon receipt of all required documentation, a site inspection of the dealership’s premises is arranged.
- Assessment Report
- A detailed report is compiled following the completion of the site inspection.
- Evaluation of Application
- The submitted application, along with the site inspection report, undergoes a thorough review to ascertain the dealership’s eligibility for certification.
- Notification to Applicant on the Status:
- Following the evaluation process, the applicant will receive a formal, written notification and/ an email via JSWIFT, detailing the outcome of their application.
