The Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of The Trade Board Limited (TBL) express profound sadness at the passing of Joan Butler, former Director of Export, on August 18, 2024.
Ms. Butler, affectionately known as "Ms. B", had a distinguished career with the Trade Board spanning over 42 years. She joined the Trade Administrator’s Department, which later became The Trade Board Limited, on December 13, 1982, as a Clerk. Her strong work ethic, ability to quickly grasp complex concepts, and personal ambition led to multiple promotions across various roles, culminating in her position as Director of Export.
Her exemplary leadership, strategic trade negotiation skills, and unwavering commitment to expanding Jamaica’s exports globally will forever be a shining example of outstanding service to Jamaica. Ms. Butler was also instrumental in modernizing our operations, particularly in trade facilitation, and was revered by her peers, government officials, industry partners, and exporters.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Butler was known for her warmth, kindness, and compassionate nature. She was a true friend to many, always offering support and encouragement to those around her. Her legacy of service, excellence and love will continue to inspire us all. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends during this time of sorrow.
The Thanksgiving Service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Transfiguration Lot 426A, Meadowbrook, 144 Red Hills Road, Kingston 19. Interment at the Dovecot Memorial Park
