The Jamaica Trade Board Limited Achieves ISO 9001:2015 Certification

Kingston, Jamaica: The Jamaica Trade Board Limited (TBL), an agency of the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC) is proud to announce its achievement of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 Certification, an internationally recognized standard for quality management systems (QMS).

The TBL was among eight organizations from Jamaica, Trinidad and Barbados who were recognized at the Certification Handover Ceremony held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 by the National Certification Body of Jamaica (NCBJ).

The Certification Handover Ceremony was part of the local observance of World Quality Week (WQW) 2024, held under the theme “Quality: From Compliance to Performance.” The NCBJ, an agency of the MIIC, which offers certification services in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, utilized this ceremony as part of a wider celebration with other quality professionals around the world.

In delivering the keynote address, Senator the Honourable Aubyn Hill, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce remarked: “Achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification is a testament to your commitment to operational excellence and adherence to global standards. This accomplishment enhances Jamaica’s reputation as a destination for high-quality products and services, while also expanding market access and opening doors to new export opportunities.

Minister Hill commended The Jamaica Trade Board Limited for its leadership in quality management and emphasized the importance of certification as a catalyst for increased productivity and global competitiveness. He called on all ministries, agencies, departments, and business leaders to adopt similar standards, fostering a culture of excellence that drives sustainable growth and secures Jamaica’s position in the global marketplace.

In her opening remarks, Manager of the NCBJ, Navenia Wellington Ford commended the recipients and emphasized the significance of ISO certification. “It signals to the world that your company is serious about being the best, today, tomorrow and beyond,” she said.

Dr. (Maj. Ret’d) Hugh Blake, Trade Administrator/CEO of The Jamaica Trade Board Limited said: “This certification is a celebration of TBL’s commitment to quality and a promise to our customers, partners, stakeholders, and the people of Jamaica that we are dedicated to operational excellence.”

Our journey toward ISO certification reflects our mission to facilitate trade with efficiency and integrity, reinforcing our role as a key player in Jamaica’s economic development,” he continued.

The TBL’s Director of Human Resource Management and Administration, Renee White echoed similar sentiments: “ISO certification is a reflection of the hard work of our entire team and our commitment to excellence, positioning the agency at the forefront of Jamaica’s trade sector by ensuring streamlined operations, greater transparency, and superior service delivery.”

 

ISO certification signifies TBL’s alignment with the global standards that enhance transparency, efficiency, and performance across its functions. The TBL is paving the way for future growth and setting new standards within Jamaica’s trade sector.
