Used Vehicle Imports: Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) Compulsory for Additional Countries

Effective July 1, 2025, all used vehicles exported from the designated countries must undergo a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). This in keeping with section 17.0 of the Motor Vehicle Import Policy, Ministry Paper 36/14, DEALER DISCLOSURE (Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate). In alignment with this requirement, Auto Terminal Japan Ltd. (ATJ) will commence the acceptance of applications for Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificates (PSIC) for all used vehicles destined for Jamaica.

Please be advised that used vehicles holding Trade Board import permits issued prior to July 1, 2025, will remain exempt from the PSI requirement. However, from this date forward, The Trade Board Ltd. will discontinue the issuance of import licences for used vehicles entering Jamaica from the specified countries, unless accompanied by a valid PSIC.
