Mandatory Sanitization Requirements under the Import Permit Suspension Period

The Jamaica Trade Board Limited (JTBL) wishes to advise that all trucks and heavy-duty equipment imported under the temporary import permit suspension period from November 4, 2025 to February 4, 2026, is required to undergo sanitization in the exporting country or locally by an approved sanitization service provider.


Documentary proof of sanitization is required from the company performing the sanitization service and this documentation must be presented to the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) prior to clearance of the vehicle.

Documentation Requirements



The document submitted must include:

  • Name of the importer
  • Date the sanitization was conducted
  • Vehicle information: Make, Model Year, and Chassis Number
  • Confirmation that the vehicle(s) has/have been sanitized, including details on the method used to ensure protection against harmful microorganisms.

Overseas sanitization services may be provided by Auto Terminal Japan (ATJ), available in the United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, and China. Local sanitization services may be carried out by Man Power Services Limited, Kingston Wharves Limited or any other sanitization company approved by the Jamaica Trade Board Limited.
